Important info on Computer accounts

1.     If your (Windows) computer at your info/visit point is shared by multiple persons, to login:

Use preferably one of the generic accounts OPENDAY1, OPENDAY2, OPENDAY3… up to OPENDAY9
(password: OpenDay_2008)

This will prevent any user to access your personal folders.
In case the PC is blocked (screensaver with password), no worry to communicate the generic password
These generic accounts will be invalidated on Monday.

2.     But, to identify yourself on the OpenDay Flow system:

Use your personal CERN or Lightweight acccount so that Control Center can identify who is the source of the information!

Generic accounts OPENDAY1 … 9 are not allowed to access OpenDay Flow system.

Training for volunteers

The Open Days Organising Committee is offering information and training sessions every Thursday in March from 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium. The first session will be on Thursday, 6 March.

It is important that volunteers attend these sessions to familiarise themselves with the practical arrangements for the two Open Days and with the main messages to be conveyed to the general public in order to make the event a success.

General information will be given out at each session, followed by information on a specific theme. The sessions will be organised as follows:
2.00 - 2.45 p.m. : first part -  general information
2.45 - 3.30 p.m. : second part -  specific information *

6 March - specific theme
« How to answer questions about the fears surrounding the LHC »

Watch video

13 March - specific theme
« Steering the visitor flow on the LHC2008 Open Days »
by Francois Briard

Take your laptops with you, this will be a real "hands-on" session! Everyone can try out the system live and give direct feedback.

Watch video

20 March - specific theme
« Operation of the Info Points and the visits in the tunnel »

Watch Video

27 March - specific theme
« Plan de sécurité des JPO » by Gilles Colin, fireman at CERN

Watch Video

3 April - specific theme
« Last Minute Info »

* A different theme will be addressed at each session. The themes of subsequent sessions (13 , 20, 27 March and 3 April) will be announced  in the forthcoming CERN Bulletins and on this website.

For those of you who couldn't make it to the briefing sessions in the main auditorium, please watch the video.

We also invite you to take a look at the "practical info" and the links to more information about the programme and activities, which will be updated regularly.

NOTE: The people assigned to one of the LHC access points will get an email inviting them to an on-site training (probably the week before the Open Days) where they will receive further information about the underground visits.
